GPS - CLUB.RU - 4 years. A summary report about Club affairs.

The very same day four years ago our first variant of site GPS-CLUB.RU was founded, why we have chosen such name is explained simply enough and the explanation is covered already in the name. Not all knew word GPS at that point in time and often mussed up with GPRS, but for knowing people already it was clear about what there is a speech (we then sincerely considered, and we consider to this day, that GPS (GLOBAL POSITION SYSTEM) concerns all systems of satellite positioning, both to American NAVSTAR and to European GALILEO and Russian GLONASS, so it has been conceived initially, so scientists wrote about it in the books, but a life has brought the corrections and already after opening of our site abbreviation GPS meant exclusively American NAVSTAR, and other systems of satellite positioning (including and NAVSTAR/GPS itself) came to be called GNSS (GLOBAL NAVIGATION SATELITE SYSTEM), but such name was strongly fixed only in minds of scientists and certainly did not suit at all the name of our Club. Our site, from the date of creation, told and will tell henceforth about all systems of satellite positioning without dividing them on affiliation to the specific country. The second word in the name, also very popular and capacious - CLUB is community of people which unites them on interest. The sense of our idea consisted in it, to form in a network a Club for fans, and as a matter of fact for not large amount of users of GPS navigation (about monitoring, geotagging, photonavigation and other trends professionals only spoke and these words were alien to us, too). Today we have developed and give similar services in an free access and we are under the search of new unusual decisions.

For the last year the quantity of our partners in Club has seriously increased and today Club already has more than 370 topical Internet portals http://top.gps-club.ru and we wish to thank all our partners, colleagues, friends that they helped and continue to help us even in these hard times. Traditionally we reckon up the last year, what we had to make for our friends and for our clubmates in this period.
